Dust in Grate
In September, 2000, while visiting the Metropolitan Museum of Art I came upon an extraordinary piece of dust. This elongated sliver seemed to be weaving itself around a grided grate. The museum was dirty! It struck me that a place millions of people visit to experience great art also presented dirt. I began looking for and photographing more instances of the kind of visual experience one doesn't expect to find in a museum, especially The Metropolitan Museum of Art.Harold Olejarz, June, 2001
